This is a high profile role working at the heart of the National Crime Agency to support our most senior leaders in the fight to cut serious and organised crime.

Role Summary:
 

  • This is an exciting role supporting a Deputy Director in leading the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime.
  • As a G4 Staff Officer/ Private Secretary you are the critical bridge between the Deputy Director and the rest of the Agency to drive forward their priorities
  • Working in Private Office will provide you with an in-depth understanding of our capabilities, the breadth of our operational activity and wider corporate change programmes.
  • From your vantage point, your principal will look to you to advise them and help shape policy in their areas of responsibility. It is an excellent opportunity to show leadership and exhibit personal impact across the organisation and with partners.
  • These are busy posts in high profile and sensitive work areas. The successful applicant will be comfortable working with senior leadership as well as using their initiative to meet the variety of challenges which might arise.
  • No two days will be the same so the post holder will need to be flexible and calm, with a keen eye for distinguishing the preferable from the critical.

Staff Officer - Investigations Operations - Warrington

In this extremely busy post containing high profile, operational and sensitive work areas you must be flexible regarding time and workload.
 

  • You will be required to frequently travel and work extended shifts and unsociable hours.
  • You need an ability to work autonomously, constantly re-prioritising in a fast paced and high pressure and risk environment, seeing the bigger picture, being forward thinking, managing risk and problem solving the variety of challenges that might arise to help drive strategic and operational activity. An operational and Private Office background would be beneficial.
  • You must be able to manage confidential and sensitive information and be DV vetted or willing to be vetted to this level.
  • You will be highly organised and confident in personally dealing with, delegating and escalating work to manage your own and the Director’s very busy diary and workload to meet tight deadlines and must be confident speaking to and negotiating with very senior leaders.
  • You will require the ability to research, analyse and understand complex material from a variety of sources to present in abridged but meaningful briefings and presentations.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Acting as the key interface between the Deputy Director and the rest of the Agency. Leading on building relationships with senior interlocutors in your areas of responsibility and beyond.
  • Driving activity within your business area by ensuring Deputy Director priorities are understood and acted upon.
  • Participating in meetings your Deputy Director has in their policy areas as required and driving forward actions in a timely fashion.
  • Leading and managing commissioning and provision of briefings, and responses to correspondence: including the quality assurance and scrutiny of submitted material.
  • Building expertise on your thematic portfolio through learning and development activities.
  • Supporting the effective management and prioritisation of the diary alongside a Personal Assistant.
