Strategic Tenders Manager

The Strategic Tenders Manager is responsible for the provision of tender submissions in response to NHSSC, OJEU and the Independent Sector across the UK & Ireland in conjunction with the Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Corporate Account Manager, Pricing and other key functions.

This person will build key relationships with Procurement leaders across the devolved nations & Ireland and would be an ideal role for someone currently working in Procurement within the NHS looking to move to industry or an experienced Tender Manager from a Medical Device organisation.

The Tender Manager position is based at our UK Head Office in Camberley; however we are open to applicants who live outside of this region if they are willing to travel to the office on regular basis.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Pre-tender engagement in conjunction with account family to support strategy.
  • Lead in delivery of tender submissions to Public and Private Health providers in a timely & compliant manner.
  • Lead in management of Tender and Pricing Administrator to ensure operational excellence to include management of day to day tasks including Tender Tracker, NHSSC Tracker, Discrepancies, Product Alternatives, Benchmarking requests, Multiquote, Tender administration including appropriate certification and compliance information and tasks associated with ensuring a robust neat tender response.
  • Contract and Tender management of supply stakeholders, including NHS supply chain, Procurement Hubs, ICBs, NHS Trusts and Private Hospital Groups at appropriate management level
  • Operational responsibility for framework call offs, for example NHSSC etc.
  • Pro-active benchmarking of tender and contract submissions to ensure best-in-class approach.
  • Ownership & development of tender response bank
  • Lead on Procurement regulations and wider legislation which impact Tender responses such a social value.
  • Ensure the UK & Ireland leadership team are fully informed on the conditions of business and market through regular landscape reporting.
  • Any other duties or projects as requested by the Line Manager commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility for this role, for which the associate has the necessary experience and/or training.

What you’ll bring to Alcon:

  • Proven experience working within tender management either within the medical device industry or procurement in the NHS.
  • Ability to demonstrate use of persuasion/influencing tactics to achieve business objectives
  • Commercial awareness of the UK healthcare industry; knowledge and understanding of products, services and marketplace – advantageous with preferred experience within the NHS & NHSSC engagement.
  • Proven experience in developing and establishing successful key relationships both internally & externally whilst delivering excellent standards of customer service
  • Proven project management skills which demonstrate flexibility/an ability to adjust to changing customer’s needs.
