The Student Recruitment Marketing Manager (Outreach) leads the faculty-wide strategy and operational delivery of outreach events and student recruitment marketing activities to maximise the generation and conversion of high-quality students.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications (SAgE Faculty), the role offers a unique opportunity to shape plans for faculty outreach, collaborating with colleagues across the wider University.

Experience of leading and motivating a team is essential, as the role will involve line managing a small team of outreach colleagues in delivering student recruitment activities, ensuring that all outputs support university and faculty strategic objectives, and to measure and assess the impact of your approach.

The successful candidate will raise awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects through the faculty’s involvement at on campus and off campus events, including school and college visits, and the delivery of talks and workshops to students. You will maximise the generation and conversion of applicants to the faculty’s degree programmes and to ensure the faculty meets its Widening Participation targets. Knowledge of the key issues influencing the Higher Education environment is highly advantageous.
 

Key Accountabilities
Support the development, implementation and evaluation of effective marketing and student recruitment plans to attract and convert home and international, undergraduate and postgraduate students, reflecting School, Faculty and University priorities and objectives.
Undertake a range of data analysis and market intelligence/research activities to inform product development, marketing strategy, campaigns, messaging and events including:
Gathering, analysing and interpreting data/trends to identify opportunities
Competitor analysis
Applicant survey analysis
Current/prospective student focus groups
Work with colleagues across the marketing function and key stakeholders to plan, deliver and evaluate subject-focused campaigns to support application generation and conversion.
Create content/copy for print materials and for use across a variety of digital channels ensuring it is relevant, informed by market insight, engaging and employs SEO principles in order to maximise reach.
Support academic Schools in the delivery of on-campus/online recruitment events such as Open Days and Offer Holder events, with responsibility for:
Using market research/intelligence to inform programme design
Creation and evaluation of applicant communications and event webpages
Creation of subject presentations for delivery by academic staff
Provide expert professional marketing advice and guidance to academic schools within the Faculty, delivering a proactive, responsive and professional service to support them in meeting their student recruitment targets.
Represent the Faculty and University at student recruitment events in the UK and overseas.
Work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure consistency, coherence and impact of approach across all marketing and student recruitment activity.
The post holder will be required to be flexible and adaptable as priorities and responsibilities may change as the Faculty, academic units and the University respond to sector challenges and changes. The post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as requested.
