We are seeking a committed Support Worker to join our Southwest Prisons service, delivering psychosocial interventions to service users at HMP Channings Wood. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to people facing substance misuse challenges, supporting them from the point of entry into services through to recovery and reintegration.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to service users throughout their treatment and recovery journey.
Deliver psychosocial interventions as part of the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service within the prison estate.
Work collaboratively with healthcare providers in an integrated health and wellbeing model.
Advocate for service users, particularly those who are unwilling or unable to engage in treatment.
Proactively follow up on missed appointments to maximise engagement opportunities.
Contribute to risk management processes, including the prison ACCT process.
Support social reintegration and promote recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination.
Candidate Profile / Requirements:
Strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience working in related fields, ideally within prisons or criminal justice.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good IT proficiency.
Proactive, organised, and capable of working independently with strong time management.
Knowledge of mental health interventions and services, with the ability to apply best practices.
A collaborative team player able to build partnerships with professionals, agencies, and stakeholders.
Ability to manage change in a way that prioritises service user needs.
Awareness of information governance and confidentiality standards.
Commitment to ongoing learning, development, and contributing to team knowledge.
What We Offer:
Salary range: £25,077 – £26,502.53 (CGL points 19 to 21, pro rata for part-time).
25 days annual leave (+ bank holidays), increasing by 1 day per year for the first 5 years (pro rata).

Additional Information:
Hours: 37.5 per week (full-time equivalent, part-time considered).
This role may include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
