Description:
VolkerStevin, part of the VolkerWessels UK Group, is seeking a Senior Buyer specializing in subcontract and materials procurement. The role involves leading procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, conducting due diligence, negotiating subcontract packages, and ensuring alignment with project and company objectives. The Senior Buyer will collaborate across project teams to secure best-value procurement solutions while maintaining strong governance and documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and improve procurement effectiveness in line with company policy
Develop bid lists and conduct due diligence for proposed subcontractors
Create procurement strategies with project teams, identifying risks and opportunities
Manage Tender/Project procurement schedules
Collate subcontract and materials enquiries for estimators and site teams
Secure timely quotations, conduct value analysis, and make recommendations
Lead negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
Host supplier meetings (mid-tender, post-tender, negotiation)
Chair pre-let meetings prior to subcontract awards
Ensure internal governance and proper documentation
Lead regular procurement reviews and ensure accurate schedules and actions
Support projects with subcontractor performance management and dispute resolution
Onboard new suppliers/subcontractors, ensuring due diligence
Maintain knowledge of local supply chain capacity and capabilities
Ensure compliance with VolkerStevin HSEQS procedures
Implement supplier agreements and support supply chain relationship building
Conduct supply chain performance reviews and lessons learned
Ensure proper document management and storage
Represent the company at client/supplier workshops
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years experience in procurement
CIPS qualification (completed or in progress)
Background in civil engineering or construction
