Description:

Mowalola is seeking a highly skilled Tailor / Seamstress to join their in-house team at their Greater London studio. The role involves working on high-end garment construction including bespoke tailoring, alterations, and producing runway, editorial, and VIP custom garments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has excellent craftsmanship, and can handle a fast-paced creative environment, bringing precision and care to every piece.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute bespoke tailoring and full garment construction from measurements to final finish, aligned with design intent

• Conduct VIP fittings in-studio, making adjustments for fit, comfort, and appearance

• Assemble garments from patterns or draped designs with expert craftsmanship

• Apply finishing techniques such as hand-stitching, blind hems, custom linings, and specialty hardware

• Collaborate with pattern cutters and designers to solve construction challenges for complex designs

• Assist with editorial, runway, and performance garment production under tight deadlines

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and garments are well cared for

• Document all alterations and fittings clearly for future reference

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in dressmaking and bespoke tailoring, preferably in a studio or atelier

• Proven skill in fitting and altering garments for diverse body shapes

• Expertise with multiple materials including leather, denim, stretch fabrics, and tailored wools

• Strong hand and machine sewing skills delivering luxury-quality finishes

• Professional communication skills, especially for VIP client interactions

• Excellent time management, ability to work independently and collaboratively

• Experience with custom/made-to-measure garments in a fashion studio or tailoring house preferred

• Relevant education or certification in tailoring, fashion design, or garment construction is a plus
