Description:
Required from September 2025, an excellent Teacher of French and Spanish, capable of teaching to GCSE. The successful candidate would be joining an MFL department within a high achieving school, which greatly values languages within the curriculum. The popularity of languages is growing rapidly at Willingdon Community School, and there is an opportunity for the successful candidate to add Latin to their skillset if they so wish to.
At the core of our values is supporting students so that they can achieve personal excellence. Whilst we are a high performing school, we are fully inclusive, and students make progress irrespective of need or background. The successful candidate will be prepared to go the extra mile, be keen to work as part of a team, and be open to, and willing to share, new ideas. At KS3, students are taught using the EPI methodology. A good knowledge of this methodology would be an advantage although not a requirement.
The MFL Department currently teach French and Spanish from Year 7 to GCSE, Latin is also taught at KS3 and offered as a GCSE. Our aim is to foster an excitement about languages across the school. We have good links with our feeder schools and staff are involved in cross phase teaching.
The school regularly hosts groups of students from around the world and this is something we are keen to develop further. Our students act as ambassadors for the international visitors we receive. The Languages department is on a trajectory to keep growing over the next few years, and investment in the subject is good. Trips include Spain, France and Canada.
