Description:
Whitmore Park Primary School, a ‘Good’ rated institution known for its committed staff and enthusiastic pupils, is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant (Level 3) to join their team in Coventry. This is a fixed-term, term-time only role designed to support pupils with special educational needs from 1st September 2025 until 31st August 2026.
Working closely under the guidance of teaching staff, senior leaders, and the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator), the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring educational and social inclusion for pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs. The role requires patience, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with SEND needs within classroom and non-classroom settings.
Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and deliver targeted support strategies, interventions, and learning programs tailored to individual pupils.
Assist pupils in developing both academic and social skills, promoting independence and confidence.
Support the implementation of education and health care plans (EHCPs) and contribute to progress reviews and observations.
Work in partnership with the SENDCO to monitor pupil development and provide feedback.
Foster a positive and respectful learning atmosphere that meets safeguarding requirements and promotes inclusion.
Help in managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation for pupils with diverse needs.
Contribute to the wider life of the school and participate in professional development and training initiatives.
Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (35 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Term-time only plus teacher training days (39 weeks annually)
Salary Grade: Grade 3
FTE Salary Range: £24,404 to £25,584 (pro rata for term-time)

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Demonstrated experience working with children, preferably in a SEND context
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to follow directions, use initiative, and work collaboratively with staff and pupils
A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach to working with children with additional needs
A deep commitment to child safeguarding, welfare, and equality
