Teaching Assistant

Description:

Oxford Outcomes is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team at Medway Green School, located in Wouldham, Rochester, Kent. The school provides specialist support for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and special educational needs (SEN). The role is based on-site and is part-time, operating during term time only.

As a Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support students aged primarily in Key Stages 2–4, helping them to access the curriculum and develop academic and personal skills in a structured, supportive environment. You’ll work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure that all learners receive tailored support that meets their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality, inclusive education.

• Support students with SEMH and additional needs through targeted interventions and general classroom assistance.

• Foster a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment.

• Contribute to classroom organisation, displays, and preparation of learning materials.

• Support physical, educational, and emotional development of students.

• Help manage classroom equipment and maintain resource availability.

• Assist in off-site activities and experiential learning as needed.

• Passionate about education and student wellbeing.

• Patient, resilient, and adaptable.

• Able to work collaboratively with the wider school team.

• Experience working with children with SEMH or SEN (desirable).

• UK Driving License preferred (for supporting offsite activities).

• Willingness to learn and develop professionally within the role.

Working Conditions:

• Working Days: Monday to Friday

• Working Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (37.5 hours per week)

• Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

• Additional Perks: Participating in the 4-Day Working Week trial, providing 100% pay for 80% of time worked if trial is successful.
