Description:

Cropthorne with Charlton CE First School, a rural first school known for its family-oriented ethos and close community ties, is seeking a Teaching Assistant Apprentice (Grade 3) to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children’s education while gaining valuable qualifications and hands-on experience in a nurturing environment.

In this role, the successful candidate will assist class teachers in supporting the learning and development of pupils, particularly focusing on children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The apprentice will also undertake midday supervisor duties and contribute to Forest School sessions, helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with class teachers to support and enhance pupil learning and attainment.

  • Provide tailored support to pupils 1:1 or in small groups to help them access the curriculum effectively.

  • Assist children in achieving their SEND targets as guided by the class teacher or SENCO.

  • Encourage and promote independence, self-esteem, and positive social interaction among pupils.

  • Support outdoor learning and Forest School sessions.

  • Supervise pupils during lunch breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being.

  • Relevant educational qualifications or experience working with children (desirable but not essential).

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:40 AM – 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM – 3:10 PM

Contract Duration: 18 months (initially fixed-term)
Start Date: 2nd June (subject to successful DBS clearance)
