Description:

Hallfield School is seeking an enthusiastic and confident Teaching & Sports Assistant for a One Year Fixed Term contract (September 2025 – August 2026). This role will involve supporting children both in the classroom, working alongside a form teacher, and assisting in the PE and Sports department. Half of your time will be spent in the classroom with children aged 4 to 7 years, and the other half will be spent supporting the delivery of the PE and sports curriculum for Year 1 to Year 8 pupils.

The successful candidate will be passionate about education and sports, looking to gain relevant experience either before or after completing higher education. This role is especially suited for those considering a career in education or sports coaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the form teacher in delivering a high standard of education.

  • Assist the PE department in the delivery of sports lessons, clubs, and fixtures.

  • Supervise children during various activities throughout the day.

  • Work with small groups and individual children as directed.

  • Assist with off-site sports fixtures, trips, and activities.

  • Ensure positive behavior of pupils and promote the good name of the school.

  • Support holiday club and school events when required.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Passionate about sports and sports coaching.

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

  • A positive, flexible, and supportive team member.

  • Willingness to support the broader life of the school.

  • Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).

  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C or above.

  • Experience working with children aged 4-7 years (volunteering considered).

  • Knowledge of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum.

  • Understanding of child development and barriers to learning.

  • Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection regulations.
