Team Manager

Description:

Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a passionate and motivated Team Manager to lead the Access, Advice and Information Service, which serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking social care support. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in improving lives by ensuring timely, person-centred advice and support for people and their carers.

As Team Manager, you will lead and support a team of social care practitioners responsible for triaging enquiries, providing advice, and carrying out assessments in line with the Care Act 2014. You will ensure that individuals are safeguarded, risks are managed appropriately, and people are guided towards sustainable solutions to live as independently as possible.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Managing and developing a dedicated team to deliver high-quality advice, initial assessments, safeguarding enquiries, and holistic care planning.

• Coordinating with third-sector organisations and service providers to support people’s goals and independence.

• Overseeing risk management, crisis response, and contingency planning for emergencies.

• Ensuring clear communication of Adult Social Care charging policies to individuals and families.

• Safeguarding vulnerable individuals by ensuring appropriate action is taken where harm, abuse, or neglect is suspected.

• Driving a strengths-based and person-centred approach in all team practices.

About You:

• Strong background in health and social care, with experience ideally in advice or third-sector services.

• Proven leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with service users, carers, and stakeholders.

• A thorough understanding of issues affecting individuals aged 16 and over, particularly older adults.

• Forward-thinking, with a commitment to delivering compassionate, effective, and high-quality services.
