Technical Delivery Manager

 

Description:

The Technical Delivery Manager will sit within Group IS and will report directly into the Head of Project Delivery.

 

You will lead the planning Technical IT projects, working with internal and external clients, specialists, consultants, and suppliers to identify requirements, develop budgets and organize the project from initial planning and development through to implementation and maintenance working with Application Development and Infrastructure Development teams.

 

In order to be effective in this role, you will have experience of collaborating closely a variety of stakeholders within a matrix organisation, including IS Group leadership, broader functional leadership and others to build a culture of growth and efficiency through effective collaboration.

 

Responsibilities

Business Case Development

  • Work with the project sponsor to understand the objectives and business benefits targeted by the project
  • Advise on options and cost of delivery
  • Contribute to preparation of a business case setting out benefit management

 

Project Organisation and Management

  • Define roles, responsibilities and accountabilities within the project.
  • Develop and document a structured plan for project delivery.
  • Monitor and report actual performance and achievement against the plan.
  • Implement corrective action to bring a project back on track.
  • Design and coordinate the processes that enable the project to manage changes to scope, requirements and/or deliverables in a controlled way.
  • Plan/contribute to a quality plan to assure the deliverables from the project are “fit for purpose”.

 

Issue and Risk Management

  • Assess and prioritise risk.
  • Manage follow up activity to monitor and minimize risk probability/adverse impact or to maximize the realization of opportunity.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify stakeholders and gather information to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Confidently engage with stakeholders to build commitment and support.
  • Communicate progress regularly (no surprises) to the project sponsor, any key stakeholders, project team members and the IS Senior Leadership Team
  • Recognise when there are conflicts, acknowledge the feelings and views of the people involved and redirect their energy to a common goal.
  • Define key performance indicators for success and measure projects against goals

 

Resources

  • Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives

 

The role and its responsibilities can be expected to evolve over time.

 

Experience

Proven experience of:

  • A track record of delivering projects in a complex and fast paced matrix environment.
  • Collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders to make sound technical decisions.
  • Acting as a spokesperson for a project ensuring all key stakeholders are briefed.

 

You will have:

  • Exceptional communication skills to coordinate with a variety of stakeholders throughout the RM business.
  • Analytical problem solving skills, with an ability to use software.
  • Strong organisational skills and time management skills in order to keep projects on track.

Qualifications and systems experience:

  • A technical degree or associated experience
  • Developer experience
  • Microsoft PowerShell.
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Microsoft Azure integration services such as API Management, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Azure AD & Service Bus.
  • Microsoft Power BI.
  • Microsoft Power Platform.
  • X++.
  • REST API and JSON web services
  • D365 F&O and/or CE
