Technical Lead

Description:

Markel International is seeking a Wholesale Claims Governance Technical Lead to join their London office, contributing to the oversight and governance of the Wholesale Claims division. This division covers three underwriting segments—Marine & Energy, Specialty, and Professional Financial Risks—alongside Claims, Operations, and Strategic Business Development teams. The role is central to delivering a robust claims governance framework across London, Singapore, and Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with claims and delegated claims standards; own annual review and attestation processes.

• Lead Lloyd’s claims relationship management under the Lloyd’s Principles for Doing Business framework.

• Manage year-end claims financial audits and internal audits of claims processes and controls.

• Implement and maintain procedures to comply with LIC claims handling guidelines.

• Ensure robust frameworks for peer review, Medicare reporting, and claims authority matrix.

• Track and communicate regulatory changes affecting claims governance.

• Oversee claims declinature process, complaints responses, and quarterly claims performance reporting.

• Act as primary liaison for Wholesale claims governance matters with International Claims Oversight Manager, MD International Claims, and Compliance teams.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Extensive governance experience with claims knowledge and/or technical expertise.

• Strong understanding of Lloyd’s and London market frameworks.

• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and process oversight skills.

• Understanding of consumer duty framework and regulatory expectations.

• Proven people management skills, ability to train and guide teams.

• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
