Description:
The Environment Agency is seeking an organised, enthusiastic, and dedicated Land & Water Technical Officer to support its Land and Water teams in managing water quality, water resources, and agricultural regulation. This role plays a critical part in environmental protection, ensuring sustainable practices and compliance with environmental regulations while actively contributing to the fight against climate change.
In this dynamic position, no two days will be the same. You will assist in responding to environmental enquiries, managing mailboxes, maintaining filing systems, compiling enforcement case files, and reviewing and analysing data for reporting and decision-making purposes. You will also assist with debt recovery by collating information on regulatory and incident response costs, handle procurement requests to ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies, and process simple permits and planning applications.
A significant aspect of this role includes supporting the in-hours Incident Duty Roster and the duty desk, ensuring smooth operations during incidents. The Environment Agency will provide full training, equipment, and comprehensive induction to help you excel in this position.
You will collaborate closely with Senior Environment Officers and Team Leaders, contributing to the agency’s mission of making the environment a better place for both people and wildlife. You will work in partnership with government bodies, local councils, communities, and businesses to address the pressing challenges posed by climate change.
