The Royal Borough of Greenwich is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and visionary professional to join as a Town Centre Manager on a two-year fixed-term contract. This pivotal role focuses on driving the sustainable growth, vibrancy, and strategic development of the borough’s most prominent town centres — Woolwich, Greenwich, and Eltham.
As Town Centre Manager, you will play a central role in shaping the physical, economic, and social environments of these key areas, ensuring that they thrive as dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable spaces that reflect the needs of local communities.
This position requires strong leadership, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple council departments and external partners to achieve cohesive and impactful results.
Lead and deliver strategies to promote the sustainable growth and regeneration of town centres.
Oversee the development and delivery of capital projects, ensuring they align with community priorities and high-quality standards.
Foster strong relationships with local businesses, residents, and partner agencies to ensure collective success.
Establish and manage Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to enhance local economic vitality.
Develop and implement diverse town centre events and programs to increase footfall and engagement.
Collaborate across services such as highways, community safety, licensing, and events to deliver joined-up outcomes.
Monitor and evaluate town centre performance using data-driven indicators, producing clear and evidence-based reports for senior management.
Promote town centres as safe, welcoming, and attractive destinations, while maintaining a strong commitment to heritage and sustainability.
Champion equality, inclusion, and positive community engagement in all town centre initiatives.
Proven experience in economic development, place management, or urban regeneration.
Demonstrable success in multi-stakeholder engagement and project coordination.
Track record in capital project delivery and working within multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of local government processes, BID establishment, and event management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and relevant data management tools.
Strong analytical ability with experience producing data-led performance reports.
Competitive salary between £54,300 – £57,400 per year.
