Trainee Psychological Therapist

Description:

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Trainee Psychological Therapist (High Intensity CBT) to join one of their CAMHS teams. This role offers a structured training pathway for individuals aiming to deliver High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for children and young people with common mental health issues, including depression and anxiety disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake a 12-month Level 2 accredited High Intensity CBT training course at Exeter University

• Provide high intensity CBT within a stepped care model under supervision

• Attend university training two days a week and manage a patient caseload within the service three days a week, with possible online learning components

• Receive regular clinical supervision in various formats

• Progress to supported preceptorship after course completion, with enhanced supervision, peer support meetings, and reduced caseload leading to a permanent Band 7 position

Requirements:

• BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or related areas, or completion of KSA portfolio

• Minimum 2 years’ experience post low-intensity CBT training

• Commitment to a training programme starting January 2026

• Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid model (face-to-face and remote)

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
