Description:

Cleveland Clinic London is looking to recruit a Transfusion Practitioner to join their Hospital Transfusion Team. This is a part-time, permanent position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the lead Transfusion Practitioner and other team members in delivering a high-quality, cost-effective clinical transfusion service. The role will involve working with multi-disciplinary teams to promote safe and appropriate blood component use, while maintaining the highest standards of transfusion care for patients.

In addition to supporting transfusion-related education, the role will involve overseeing blood transfusion governance and regulatory compliance, monitoring transfusion practices, managing adverse events, and promoting patient blood management. Transfusion Practitioners also play a crucial role as a liaison between the transfusion laboratory and clinical teams, providing relevant clinical advice and supporting operational and service improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Role-model Cleveland Clinic’s values and demonstrate a person-centred approach to service delivery and development.

  • Provide expert advice, information, and support to all staff involved in the blood transfusion process.

  • Support and participate in Hospital Transfusion Team/Committee meetings.

  • Monitor blood component traceability compliance, investigate and report any non-compliance.

  • Lead and collaborate in blood transfusion audits across the hospital and evaluate recommendations for practice improvements.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in a clinical area with high blood component use or in a transfusion laboratory.

  • Experience in teaching, training, assessment, and supervision.

  • Experience in audit and/or nursing research.

  • Experience working as a Transfusion Practitioner (desirable).

  • Knowledge of research techniques/methodology (desirable).
