Transmission Technician

The Transmission Technician will support the wider transmission operations team with plant maintenance orders, purchase orders, and receipting. This role involves supporting the Outage Planning Scheduler to drive efficiencies in the work programme by actively managing the process and looking for improvements. By ensuring all requirements for the successful delivery of the transmission maintenance programme are available, you will contribute significantly to our Net Zero goals.

What You’ll Be Doing
 

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and daily plans for allocated staff in conjunction with the appropriate Team Leader.
  • Create plant maintenance orders and update corporate systems for transmission maintenance activities.
  • Provide a central contact point for work PMO and PO creation for fault and maintenance activities.
  • Support the Outage Planning Scheduler to drive efficiencies in the work programme by actively managing the process and looking for improvements.
  • Optimise the workload of each resource to obtain maximum productivity within the work programme.
  • Support the weekly and daily maintenance of the resource plan and work programme.
  • Utilise SAP to identify potential work to maximise outage opportunities and drive productivity.
  • Produce and deliver reports and management information within agreed timescales.
  • Assist with the management of the purchasing requirements for the department.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and other business areas.
  • Contribute as an effective team member of the Transmission Operations team.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained in all activities performed.
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance with Company Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.

     

What You’ll Bring
 

  • ONC or relevant business experience.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in relation to Transmission Operation Planning and support activities.
  • Ability to manage work programmes and carry out resource planning.
  • Sound knowledge of outage and resource planning.
  • Experience with purchase order and invoicing processes.
  • Familiarity with company IT systems (SAP).
  • Ability to embrace new technology and work to provide solutions for efficient maintenance and repair of transmission equipment.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate at all levels of the business.
  • Working knowledge of Business IT systems, Energy Networks policies, procedures, and working practices.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Developed negotiation, communication, and people management skills.
