Transport Team Manager

Description:

C&C Group plc, one of the UK's largest and most respected drinks wholesalers, is seeking an experienced Transport Team Manager to join its high-performing logistics team in Wetherby. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the transport function to ensure cost-effective delivery, service excellence, regulatory compliance, and robust people management. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong logistics or FMCG background to play a pivotal role in shaping a world-class supply chain operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management:

• Efficiently manage labour deployment within the transport team for optimal cost and coverage.

• Ensure delivery standards meet customer expectations while minimizing wastage.

• Work within defined productivity targets and manage operational costs as directed.

Service Delivery:

• Maintain proactive communication with customers, internal stakeholders, and customer service teams.

• Lead the execution of daily, weekly, and monthly delivery plans to meet company and client needs.

• Ensure fleet readiness and compliance to maintain uninterrupted customer service.

• Support the Transport Logistics Manager in preparing data for reporting and planning.

Compliance & Health and Safety:

• Enforce adherence to legal and health & safety regulations and company standards.

• Monitor and act upon vehicle defect reports, MOT schedules, and service records.

• Ensure timely completion of audits and effective implementation of corrective actions.

• Maintain safe working conditions and manage risk in line with workplace hazard protocols.

People Management:

• Oversee and proactively manage the performance of transport team members.

• Identify and address training needs, both regulatory and developmental.

• Lead disciplinary investigations, grievance resolutions, and accident follow-ups.

• Foster consistent communication and team engagement across departments.

Leadership & Culture:

• Act in accordance with C&C Group’s values and management principles.

• Provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to the transport team.

• Take initiative in solving operational challenges and implementing practical solutions.
