Transportation Operations Manager

 

Description:

Exciting opportunity with one of my clients working as Transport Manager (Airports & Londist). The purpose of the role is to promote and drive Operational Excellence across the group activities supporting the London region of fuel distribution operations and other areas of future expansion. This key position will manage and lead a range of fuel distribution capabilities across the London District. This includes future planned expansion options along the likely M4/M1/M3 corridors.

As an appointed Transport Manager to deliver on DVSA standards, you will be leading a diverse team of mainly Terminal based drivers across an operational footprint that includes Purfleet Heathrow and as far as Aldermaston.

Supporting the effective management of a cohort of up to 15+ operations team members you will have leadership responsibility across the mainly Terminal environment to be a Champion of SHEQ, and O Licence Undertakings

Key Responsibilities. Responsible for delivering high levels of Productivity and driving continuous improvement though high-performance teams and exceeding compliance standards. Delivered in an Always Safe environment with a commitment to engagement and collaboration across the business.

 

Knowledge / Skills and Attributes

 

· In depth knowledge of the Goods Vehicle (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995

· Demonstrable experience of managing a vehicle fleet

· Experience with vehicle technologies, e.g., Automatic Vehicle Recognition

· Ability to demonstrate influential communication.

· Hold recent Certificate of Professional competence in National Road Haulage Operations.

· HGV and ADR experience.

· Computer literate.

· Strong demonstrable organisation and planning skills.

· Full driving license (HGV 2 Desirable)

· Fuel Industry knowledge would be advantageous but not a necessity.

· Positive attitude, pro-active, strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure.

· Strong Time Management and organisational skills.

· Strong administrative capability.

· Self-driven with strong Communication skills to support continuous improvement initiatives and build customer relationships.

· Highly Resilient in high pressure situations.

· FORS Practitioner – Highly Desirable or to be obtained within 6 months of commencement

· PRINCE2 - Desirable

· ISOH/NEBSOSH training qualification (Health and Safety / Environmental) - Desirable
