Vat Accountant

Description:

Immediately start available for an Accountant with strong knowledge of VAT to join an expanding team, working in a picturesque environment SW of Reading. The successful candidate will assist in supporting the implementation of tax excellence for an educational client, and will play a key role in advising on VAT matters, optimising VAT recovery, and supporting the finance team with related financial processes.

Key Responsibilities
 

• Leading tax excellence for an educational client
• Provide expert advice and support with VAT matters, as well as assisting with budgets, management accounts and statutory accounts.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of monthly and annual accounts, VAT returns, liaising with HMRC as issues arise
• Providing specialist VAT and taxation advice and support to Head of Finance
   

Requirements
 

• Experienced and professional Accountant, part-qualified min or QBE
• Strong experience in VAT / broad accounting
• Any experience from education / charitable sector or public sector could be advantageous
• Knowledge of UK VAT legislation and HMRC compliance requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software and strong Excel skills
• Preference may be offered to a suitable candidate available at short notice
