Distinct | B Corp is seeking a VAT Manager to join their nationally recognised VAT advisory team based in Manchester. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality, strategic VAT work while being part of a collaborative, people-first firm with a strong UK presence and a commitment to professional excellence.

As a VAT Manager, you will deliver expert advisory services to a diverse range of clients, including owner-managed businesses, large corporates, private clients, and not-for-profit organisations. This full-time, on-site position requires a high level of technical proficiency, commercial insight, and interpersonal skill.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and strategic VAT advice across a wide array of issues, such as HMRC disputes, complex VAT liabilities, land/property transactions, and treatment of transactions.

  • Manage and nurture client relationships through face-to-face meetings, virtual consultations, and written correspondence.

  • Review and approve complex VAT returns ensuring compliance and accuracy.

  • Support national VAT practice initiatives including business development, sector-specific campaigns, and internal knowledge sharing.

  • Take part in leadership activities within the team and collaborate with colleagues across different offices and specialisms.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Strong VAT advisory experience with exposure to land and property VAT.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex tax concepts effectively to clients.

  • Skilled in billing, scoping, and delivering advisory projects.

  • A consultative, client-centric mindset and willingness to engage in public speaking, thought leadership, and marketing efforts.

  • A team-oriented approach, eager to contribute to broader VAT and firmwide initiatives.
