The central platform for communicating and engaging with members of the GES & GSR professions across government are their respective Members Intranet sites. With over 5,500+ members currently signed up across both sites, GESR lead on all aspects of the curation, administration, management, development and maintenance of these across government platforms.

We are looking for someone with the knowledge, skills and/or experience needed to lead and deliver continual curation, operation, maintenance and development of the Members Intranet sites for the GES and GSR professions.

The successful candidate will need to be able to: balance a variety of priorities; have the flexibility to respond to changes; and the ability to progress work without supervision and manage their own workload.

This role is a great opportunity for a candidate who has skills and/or experience in maintaining a website, use of content management systems, and either has or wishes to develop their customer management and communication skills.

The role would suit a proactive and self-motivated individual - as Website Lead the successful candidate will be expected to act on their own initiative, identify opportunities for improvement and then make those improvements happen, all within a team context.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

1) Lead on the curation, maintenance, updating and delivery of the GES & GSR Members Intranet Sites

  • Lead on sites Content Management System (CMS), delivering regular content updates (across the content spectrum - text, visual, audio and video), sourcing content from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring content is relevant, engaging, speaking to audience / membership, meeting member and professional needs, and ensuring stability of service and user experience.
  • This will involve working closely with many members of the GESR Team - including the Marketing Lead, GES & GSR Events Lead, GES & GSR Learning & Development, GES & GSR recruitment – and working with GES & GSR members across government.
  • Maintain Member Intranet User Profile databases. This will include processing new user requests, user profile change requests, lead work to maintain and/or improve data quality and coverage of User Profiles, and leading on any related queries or issues.
  • Technical lead on members sites – fielding related queries from members, users and stakeholders. This will include leading on regular engagement with the supplier on any technical issues, concerns and/or problems.

2) Lead on Supplier Management and continuous technical development of the GES & GSR Members Intranet Sites

  • Lead on all aspects of engagement with, and management of, the contracted supplier of the GES & GSR Members Intranet sites. This includes all related contract and financial management, such as leading on the operation and annual renewal of hosting, support, and maintenance services from the supplier.
  • Lead on all aspects of continuous technical development and improvement to the sites. This will include:
    • scoping, researching and identifying possible technical improvements to the sites.
    • regular engagement with GES & GSR members to identify new demands and/or desired changes to their members sites.
    • engaging with supplier on feasibility and costs.
    • engaging within GESR to triangulate and assess desirability of any given potential improvement/s to the member sites.
    • leading on delivery of agreed developments and improvements (full cycle - design, build, user testing, roll-out, communication of, and all related supplier engagement).
