Accounts Payable Specialist

Halliday Marx has partnered with a leading Environmental Services firm to recruit an Interim Accounts Payable Specialist for a 9-month contract. This position is fully on-site in London and is ideal for an experienced finance professional who thrives in high-volume, multi-entity environments.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Accounts Payable function. You will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, managing reconciliations, preparing payment runs, and supporting compliance and reporting tasks, all while contributing to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of supplier invoices accurately in line with company policies and payment terms.

• Reconcile supplier statements, investigating and resolving discrepancies quickly.

• Prepare and process weekly and monthly payment runs (BACS, CHAPS, and international payments).

• Work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to manage purchase order and invoice matching.

• Maintain accurate AP records with proper coding for management reporting.

• Assist with month-end close procedures, including accruals and reporting.

• Support VAT compliance and provide documentation for audit requests.

• Identify opportunities to improve AP processes and assist in system enhancements.

Candidate Profile / Requirements:

• Immediately available to start.

• At least 2 years’ experience in multi-entity Accounts Payable.

• Strong knowledge of expenses and two/three-way matching.

• Experience with Sage 200 (preferred, but not mandatory).

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.

• Good communication skills with a proactive, positive attitude.
