Description:

We are looking for an energetic and brilliantly organised Administrator to support the activity of the museum, manage the volunteer and collaborate in the delivery of an ambitious programme of activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the small team at Court Barn, which celebrates the talented designers and craftspeople who have worked in Chipping Campden and the north Cotswolds since the beginning of the twentieth century. As Administrator you will support the Curator in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Museum, in conjunction with the Assistant Curator where possible.

You should be a well organised, flexible person, able to plan in advance, work on multiple projects and adapt to unexpected changes

You should be a team-worker, able to be independently responsible for relevant projects, but also efficiently and empathetically support the activity of other members of the department and of the volunteers.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Handle correspondence, answer telephone calls, emails, filing, implementing new IT/administrative systems
  • Process invoices for payment
  • Collating data and banking on a regular basis.
  • Act as Key Holder - responsible for unlocking the museum, then securing and alarming on closure.
  • Manage Volunteers on a daily basis
  • Work on Front of House when required
  • Other duties as required.

Person specification:

  • Able to engage with the public and manage any issues that may arise.
  • Ability to manage volunteers on a day-to-day basis ensuring they are supported

Knowledge

  • Proficient in the use of standard office software and technology e.g. word processing, databases, spreadsheets and outlook.

Skills

  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Professional and articulate
  • Highly organised with the ability to focus and stay on task in a busy museum environment or when working alone.

Desirable:

  • Good numeracy skills, experience of working with Quick Books or similar software.
