Project Curator

 

Description:

To document and make publicly accessible the ancient Egyptian collection, in support of the Museum’s Masterplan, the Museum Operating Plan and all relevant Museum strategies. To improve their accessibility via the Museum’s digital online platforms.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To lead on upgrading the documentation of the ancient Egyptian objects in the collection
  • To make the collection, and knowledge about it, publicly accessible via digital platforms
  • To support storage projects on- and off-site
  • To have or develop a good understanding of museums and relevant best practice.
  • To assist in the general day-to-day running of the department
  • To work as a team member with colleagues within and beyond the department
  • To act as an advocate for the Museum
  • Other duties as assigned.

About you:

  • BA/BSc (or equivalent) in relevant subject
  • Experience of documentation
  • Expertise in the archaeology of ancient Egypt
  • Some experience of working with a relevant collection, museum documentation and museum databases
  • Experience of working in a museum environment
  • Open, effective communicator with good spoken and written English
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
