An exciting opportunity has arisen to support our Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in the delivery of the Capital One UK AML Programme.

This is a hugely varied and fast paced role. You will lead a team of passionate AML investigators, partner with the wider AML team and the MLRO to perform Deputy MLRO duties, oversee and manage the delivery of AML, Police Liaison and Sanctions investigations as well as core aspects of the delivery of the AML Work Programme.

As part of the wider Capital One business, the Deputy MLRO will also have the opportunity to work closely with a broad set of regulators across both the UK and the US.

What You’ll Do
 

  • Undertake all Deputy MLRO duties, including being a point of escalation and key decision maker for complex cases and for cases requiring senior approval
  • Partner with the MLRO to deliver internal audits and external regulatory exams
  • Complete the Annual Money Laundering Risk Assessment (MLRA) in order to thoroughly document, understand and articulate the inherent AML risk of the UK business
  • Understand and articulate AML risk associated with new products and initiatives
  • Create and champion a culture of coaching and continuous improvement where everyone is focused on achieving results and delivering for our customers
  • Ensure robust, comprehensive documentation, appropriate process controls and process management good practices are in place to ensure effective risk management and drive process efficiency
  • Participate in Department leadership activities e.g. objective setting, scorecard reviews, directs meetings, mentoring, department events
     

What We’re Looking For

This is an exciting opportunity for an AML professional who is wanting to expand their duties and knowledge by becoming our Deputy MLRO. This could also be an excellent role for an established Deputy MLRO.
 

  • Experience in AML, Sanctions and PEP investigations within a regulated environment
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments and rule tuning reviews
  • Exposure to change management, with a solid awareness of risk
  • Experience of building a culture that fosters performance and high engagement
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • A passion for people leadership and career development
  • Confident judgement to make autonomous decisions
  • Able to identify problems and come up with effective solutions
