As part of the Global Advanced Wound Care operations team, the primary objective of this role is to lead the advanced operations engineering team within AWC. The role is responsible for the effective and timely technical integration of new product lines, validation, successful ramp up, and seamless handovers to manufacturing BAU. The role requires a high level of technical expertise, understanding of new equipment introduction together with the ability to map critical process parameters. An exceptional level of technical fault finding on new equipment, using new processes is essential to the success of this role.

This AO Engineering Manager AWC is critical to the success of NPI across the advanced wound care business within Convatec. The role provides the autonomy to ensure that the most effective processes are successfully brought into fruition to support all new advanced wound care products.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Aligns technical planning priorities through the value streams balancing NPI/NPD and operational times and schedules.
  • Drives best in class process repeatability and approval on new process lines.
  • Responsible for the successful validation of all NPI validation across new machinery in AWC
  • Accountable for the engineering strategy within AO AWC
  • Develop and deliver rigorous and effective standard protocols to ensure effective handovers are in place for new machinery and new products.
  • Promote and embed a continuous improvement culture within the business to drive best in class improvements in new processes in Safety, Quality, Production Efficiency, Costs and Loss Reduction.
  • Implement best engineering practice for process safety and other EHS compliance requirements including corporate EHS policies.
  • Responsible for all NPI tooling, verification, trials, and purchase.
  • Ensure the effective technical development, coaching and guidance of team members.
  • Guide and assist team members about best practice in process adaption, tolerancing and working parameters within new launches and equipment.
  • Embed yourself as the technical expert within the engineering function. Guide and direct team members through technical issues and difficulties in processing, validation, and quality.
  • Embed a safety culture through the team and support EHS activities on the Deeside site.
  • Ensure that both technical and validation documentation, processes and procedures are always followed by team. Educate team on any gaps if they are apparent.
  • Responsible for the sound integration across multiple machines of the ConvaFoam Insourcing program covering project management, process engineering and validation always ensuring clear communications, supported with a risk analysis shared with the wider teams throughout.
  • Prepare and present status reports, technical updates, and engineering constraints to support timely integration.
  • Highlight technical risks supported by solutions and requirements to the business.
  • Drive delivery of capital projects in line with the business capital investment strategy
  • Co-ordinate with other engineering functions across the business to share best practices.
  • Ensure that DFM is imbedded throughout NPI programs, working closely throughout the organisation to justify your position and recommend solutions to keep the program moving.
  • Using technical expertise to support, recommend and drive new technology ensuring a best-in-class environment in all NPD programs.
  • Direct responsibility for managing the AO Engineering Team budget.
