Assistant Accountant

Description:

We are working with a well-known restaurant and retail group with multiple locations across London and the UK who is looking for an assistant accountant.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key finance operations, working closely with the finance team to strengthen and streamline both AP and AR processes as the company continues to grow.

The assistant accountant will play an integral part in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of financial operations. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Ownership of the AP & AR ledgers
• Preparation of payments and obtaining the relevant signoff
• Debtor management, reconciliation & reporting
• Support month-end close, including accruals and AP reconciliations
• Resolving queriessign-off
• Bank reconciliation, reporting & journals
• Processing company credit cards and staff expenses
• Involvement in the VAT return process
• Develop good relationships with key contacts both internally and externally
• Supporting the team with other ad hoc finance tasks as required

Candidate Profile

• Fully qualified AAT or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Previous experience of working in a multi-site environment, hospitality or FMCG is a strong plus.
• Minimum 3 years of Accounts Payable experience.
• Previous involvement in Accounts Receivable activities.
• Experience using Xero, Sage200 and Sage Intact.
• Strong organisation, communication, and time management skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and driven to improve processes and ensure accuracy across reporting.
