Associate Director

Description:

Buro Happold is seeking an Associate Director Technical Authoring Lead to spearhead the development of high-quality, multidisciplinary proposal narratives for major infrastructure projects across Highways, Rail, Water, Environment, and Energy sectors. This role supports the UK strategy for major infrastructure growth and contributes to prestigious international pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead authorship of technical responses for major infrastructure bids, ensuring alignment with client requirements and evaluation criteria.

• Produce precise, compliant, and persuasive answers that withstand rigorous client evaluation.

• Interpret client evaluation frameworks and tailor responses to achieve top scores.

• Collaborate with technical specialists, internal/external stakeholders, and bid coordinators to deliver timely, high-quality proposals.

• Manage bid quality assurance, including stage reviews and strategic alignment.

• Review technical inputs for completeness, coherence, and compliance with bid objectives.

• Contribute to marketing, presentation, and thought-leadership content.

• Embed market insights and organisational value propositions into bid content.

• Develop tailored case studies and value proposition narratives specific to infrastructure markets.

• Upskill technical contributors, promote continuous improvement including AI/Automation integration, and champion excellence in technical writing across the organisation.

Skills and Experience:

• Exceptional technical writing, editing, and strategic bid content development skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.

• Proven capability to review and elevate content authored by others.

• Commitment to continuous improvement and mentoring others’ authoring capabilities.

• Experience in design and build environments and effective collaboration with consultants and contractors.

• Membership/certification in APMP preferred.
