Associate Solicitor

Description:

Penningtons Manches Cooper is seeking a full-time Associate to join its Housing team in the Basingstoke office, focusing on home ownership legal matters. The firm is a respected UK and international law firm with expertise across various sectors including real estate, technology, private wealth, and shipping.

The successful candidate will join the Home Ownership Team, delivering high-quality legal services in relation to the sale of shared ownership and outright sales, and post-sale transactions on behalf of housing associations and developers. The role offers opportunities for involvement in a broad range of real estate work and encourages career development through technical mentoring, client engagement, and team leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of home ownership transactions including newbuild sales (outright and shared ownership), after-sale activities (RTB/RTA, lease extensions, auctions, etc.), and other related real estate legal tasks.

• Maintain compliance with professional standards and firm protocols.

• Participate in business development and networking initiatives to expand team influence.

• Monitor legal developments relevant to housing and real estate law.

• Handle billing processes and meet income targets.

• Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal training.

Essential Criteria:

• Qualified solicitor, CILEx, or Council for Licensed Conveyancers.

• Experience in housing law, specifically with affordable home ownership schemes.

• Understanding of real estate transactions for housing associations and developers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience with site setups for new developments.

• Business development track record.

• Experience in handling a busy caseload under pressure.
