Buro Happold, a world-class engineering and consultancy firm, is seeking an experienced Building Regulator Principal Designer to join their team. This key role is essential for aligning Buro Happold’s practices with the Building Safety Act 2022, ensuring compliance with relevant building regulations, and driving the implementation of processes for their UK operations. The ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert in the Building Safety Act 2022 and be responsible for developing best practices to position Buro Happold as a leader in Building Regulator Principal Designer services.
This position provides the opportunity to lead the development of robust Building Safety Act (BSA) processes, ensuring Buro Happold fulfills its responsibilities and enhancing systems that will contribute to project wins.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and relevant building regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate all design phases, ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements and are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, offering expert advice on building safety and compliance.
- Perform risk assessments and audits to identify compliance issues and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Lead and mentor a team of designers, ensuring they are fully trained and competent in their roles.
- Maintain accurate records of all design and compliance activities, preparing detailed reports for clients and regulatory bodies.
- Stay informed of changes in building regulations and industry best practices, refining processes to enhance safety and service offerings.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a similar role with deep understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and building regulations.
- Strong knowledge of building safety regulations, risk assessment, and compliance strategies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification or membership in a relevant professional body is highly desirable.
- CDM 2015 experience/exposure with relevant CDM competency courses.
