Description:
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving the quality of our council-owned, managed and leased housing stock. You will provide a high-quality, customer-focused surveying service, ensuring the delivery of effective repairs, voids, planned maintenance, and project works in line with the Council’s strategic priorities, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Damp, Mould & Disrepair work stream, taking full responsibility for all associated surveying activity.
- Deliver a professional service for the repair, maintenance, improvement and re-servicing of housing stock.
- Support the effective delivery of responsive repairs, void property works, planned maintenance, and refurbishment projects.
- Carry out detailed inspections, diagnose defects and specify appropriate remedial works.
- Supervise contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, and on budget.
- Foster strong relationships with internal teams, residents, leaseholders, and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks, including CDM, H&S, and housing standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- A qualified construction professional (ONC/HNC or higher in Building Studies/Construction).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building maintenance, with knowledge of damp, mould, and disrepair issues.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation including health & safety, housing standards, and compliance.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
- A collaborative and customer-first approach with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
