The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI), the largest division of the global Chartered Governance Institute, is seeking a visionary and inspiring CEO to lead the organisation into its next chapter. With a 130-year legacy, CGIUKI aims to shape the future of governance, influence global change, and continue its commitment to high standards in governance across commerce, industry, and public affairs.

The role demands leadership, strategic vision, and a strong commitment to governance. As CEO, the successful candidate will guide a passionate team of 63 people, supported by an engaged Board, and work on shaping and delivering the institute’s strategy in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shape and deliver CGIUKI’s strategy and vision in a rapidly evolving environment.

• Promote the value and credibility of CGIUKI members and qualifications.

• Raise CGIUKI’s profile and influence with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders across various sectors.

• Expand the reach and impact of CGIUKI, grow membership, and enhance thought leadership.

• Champion good governance both within CGIUKI and externally.

• Engage internationally, including attending Global Council meetings and establishing partnerships worldwide.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven senior leadership experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.

• A strong track record of influencing policy, building external partnerships, and serving as a public ambassador.

• Strategic insight with a focus on corporate governance and its role in driving sustainable success.

• Experience in financial and operational oversight, managing complex budgets, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• A collaborative and motivational leadership style, with a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and ethical governance.

• Understanding of the digital landscape and emerging technologies to future-proof the organisation.

• Experience driving revenue growth, expanding services, or increasing membership/customer bases in competitive markets.
