Description:
Kent Cricket, one of the most prestigious and historic professional cricket clubs in England and Wales, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Founded in 1870, Kent Cricket is a cornerstone of English domestic cricket, and this role offers a unique opportunity to lead the club into its next chapter of growth, success, and innovation.
Based at the club's headquarters at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury, with a satellite ground at The County Ground, Beckenham, Kent Cricket is responsible for nurturing and developing cricket at every level across the county, including the four London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, and Lewisham. This includes everything from grassroots cricket in schools and communities to the professional game. Kent Cricket’s legacy includes hosting some of the most legendary cricketers in history, such as Colin Cowdrey, Derek Underwood, Alan Knott, Steve Waugh, Aravinda de Silva, Muttiah Muralitharan, Rahul Dravid, Lydia Greenway, Tammy Beaumont, and many others.
The club is deeply rooted in its community and boasts one of the largest recreational cricket programs in the country, which is vital to its continued success and impact. Kent Cricket has a strong base of support and a rich heritage that lays a solid foundation for the future. The incoming CEO will have the exciting task of continuing the club's transformation by seizing new opportunities in the evolving cricket landscape, both on and off the field.
The role is not just about managing a cricket club; it is about leading a transformative organization that serves as a community hub, an ambassador of inclusivity, and a champion of diversity. With substantial financial backing entering the game and a shifting domestic cricket structure, this is an exciting time to be part of Kent Cricket’s future.
The ideal candidate will possess strong general management skills, demonstrated success in leading commercial operations, and expertise in estate utilization and development. A passion for sports and a commitment to making a real difference in the lives of people across Kent are essential. While a background in cricket is not required, the candidate should have proven leadership skills in managing large organizations, with the vision and energy to drive Kent Cricket to new heights.
As Chief Executive, you will work closely with the Board and senior management team to define and deliver strategic objectives, ensuring that Kent Cricket is competitive on the field and financially successful. The successful candidate will be a highly authentic, inclusive, and inspiring leader capable of driving change and creating a lasting impact on the club’s future.
