Description:

Buro Happold is seeking a Project Director to oversee major civil engineering projects, managing the technical and financial performance of all teams delivering projects in the UK and globally. The role involves client engagement, external team coordination, and leadership in technically demanding infrastructure projects, including innovative solutions such as reducing embodied carbon and adopting modern design methods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead project planning, programme and financial management, risk management, budgets, and technical performance

• Act as a trusted client advisor and represent Buro Happold externally

• Oversee technical management and performance of Buro Happold teams

• Manage external teams and collaborate effectively with client and partner organisations

• Ensure compliance with all Buro Happold quality management systems

Skills and Experience Required:

• Strong technical background in civil infrastructure design

• Excellent communication skills, especially with senior clients and collaborators

• Experience in setting up and managing multi-disciplinary civil infrastructure or masterplanning projects

• Ability to manage programmes, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans

• Experience leading financial proposals, fee estimates, and negotiating terms & conditions

• Professional membership of a relevant professional body
