Clinical Laboratory Technician

Description:

Illumina is seeking an enthusiastic and purpose-driven Clinical Laboratory Technician to join their cutting-edge Illumina Laboratory Services (ILS) team in Cambridge. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact on healthcare by contributing to life-changing genomic diagnostics, including whole genome sequencing, rare disease detection, and cancer analysis.

As a Clinical Lab Technician, you will support critical laboratory workflows involving DNA and RNA processes in a state-of-the-art, ISO 15189-accredited environment. This is a full-time, on-site position with shift-based work from Monday to Sunday (9 AM–5 PM). The role spans both Hinxton and Great Abington facilities and includes manual and automated techniques using advanced platforms like NovaSeq, Hamilton Star, and Tecan Robots.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute routine lab tests (e.g., DNA quantification, extraction, and sequencing) to high-quality standards

• Support development projects, such as whole transcriptome sequencing

• Maintain inventory and perform lab housekeeping duties

• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Health & Safety (H&S) guidelines, and Work Instructions

• Ensure compliance with ISO 15189 and Quality Management Systems (QMS)

• Contribute proactively to team goals while maintaining individual productivity

Preferred Requirements:

• BSc in a life sciences-related field strongly preferred

• Molecular biology lab experience (academic or industry)

• Theoretical understanding of next-generation sequencing

• Detail-oriented, conscientious, and eager to learn

• Industry experience a plus but not required
