Description:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Histology Technician to join its Translational Pathology Laboratory team at the cutting-edge Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge, UK. This full-time, on-site position offers the opportunity to be part of critical biomedical research supporting biomarker identification and analysis throughout drug development cycles—from preclinical studies to clinical trials.

The Histology Technician will provide essential laboratory support in the execution of immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and in situ hybridization (ISH) assays on human pathology samples. Working with a high-caliber team in the Lab and Production Services department, you’ll play a vital role in supporting top pharmaceutical and biotech partners across the globe.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily histopathology procedures including immunohistochemistry, tissue sectioning, and digital slide scanning

  • Operate automated staining systems for analysis of clinical trial tissue samples

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of tissue samples for biomarker research

  • Uphold strict compliance with HTA, GCP, and other regulatory guidelines

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure lab safety and quality protocols are consistently followed

  • Support and collaborate with scientific and research teams to enable streamlined lab operations


Candidate Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field

  • At least one year of laboratory experience with practical histopathology techniques

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Human Tissue Act and GCP

  • Comfortable working with human tissue samples in a research or clinical trial environment

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and within a team

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
