Description:
The Environment Agency is seeking a skilled and innovative Data Analyst to play a central role in transforming how data is assessed to enhance intelligence-led regulation within the Water Sector. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant business impact through advanced data analytics capabilities on a national scale.
In this role, you will:
Develop and maintain tools and applications to analyse large datasets combining water company data with environmental information to assess compliance against environmental permit conditions.
Ensure data quality, robustness, and compliance with relevant governance standards.
Provide technical advice to improve data quality and streamline processes for future operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver innovative, evidence-led regulatory approaches.
Embed new tools and processes into the business, ensuring continuous improvement based on feedback and evolving needs.
This role involves occasional travel and overnight stays. You will also participate in incident management as part of your development plan, with full training provided.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering innovative data solutions.
Experience in analysing and managing large datasets using modern analytical tools and platforms.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to document processes and share expertise.
Desirable Skills:
Microsoft Synapse and Fabric experience.
Familiarity with agile methodologies (sprint planning, peer reviews, retrospectives).
Knowledge of best coding practices, version control, and comprehensive code testing.
Data and Information Management: Ability to collect, analyse, interpret, and manage large data sets and present findings effectively.
Takes Decisions and Solves Problems: Capability to identify issues, analyse data, and make timely, effective decisions.
Focuses on Efficiency, Innovation, and Quality: Proactive in creating and implementing innovative methods to enhance processes and outcomes.
