Desktop Engineer

Description:

Desktop Engineer

At Kirklees College we are always looking for new talent, and welcome applications from all sectors.

Whether in a teaching & learning role or in one of our specialised Business Support functions, you’ll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers, engineers, health workers and countless others.

We’re already a successful college, but we’re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!

In the role of Desktop Engineer, you’ll predominantly be based at Huddersfield and surrounding College sites, and your focus will be on supporting, managing and maintaining end-user devices and desktop systems across the College, using technologies such as SCCM, Intune and Action1. A full UK driving licence would be advantageous, with access to college vehicles provided for travel between sites.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Troubleshooting desktop, laptop and end-user technical issues.

• Diagnosing and repairing hardware and software faults.

• Installing, configuring and maintaining devices, operating systems and applications.

• Using SCCM, Intune and Action1 to deploy software, manage updates and maintain device compliance.

• Communicating to customers to offer efficient, quality technical support.

• Providing timely responses and accurate customer feedback.

• Supporting the testing and roll-out of new devices, applications, configuration changes or technologies.

• Creating and updating documentation (how-to guides, procedures, etc).

ideally, you’ll have a relevant Level 3 qualification or above (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience) and practical experience supporting Windows desktop environments, including the use of tools such as SCCM, Intune and Action1. It’s important that you’re able to articulate technical information to end users in clear, easy-to-understand language, have a meticulous eye for detail, apply logical problem-solving skills, and demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We believe learning is not just for our students: it’s an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You’ll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.
