Digital Engineer

Description:

Laing O’Rourke is seeking a Digital Engineer / Senior Digital Engineer to join its Central Services team in Dartford. This is a permanent, on-site role focused on supporting work-winning and bid development for major projects across diverse sectors such as healthcare, data centres, defence (MoD), justice (MoJ), power infrastructure, and science & research facilities.

The role is ideal for candidates with experience in digital delivery and a strong foundation in construction or engineering disciplines, with the ability to turn complex project data into compelling visual solutions. Candidates with purely architectural backgrounds may not be the best fit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and manage advanced 3D and 4D models to show construction sequencing, staging, and logistics.

• Deliver 5D model-based quantification and impactful visual outputs.

• Develop animations and visualisations to enhance bids, planning, and project communication.

• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure high-quality digital solutions.

• Promote best practices in digital engineering and mentor colleagues in modelling and sequencing.

What You’ll Bring:

• A degree or equivalent experience in construction, civil engineering, or related disciplines.

• Strong technical skills in 3D modelling, visualisation, and animation/post-production.

• Experience with 4D sequencing tools and model-based quantification.

• Strong communication, teamwork, and project coordination abilities.

• Additional desirable skills include advanced visualisation (3DS Max, Unreal Engine), coding knowledge, and experience with Solibri, Trimble Connect, or Power BI.

• Recognised BIM qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
