Description:
The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society (CRM Society) is an independent, non-profit charity established in 1973 to promote and encourage appreciation of the Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his contemporaries. The Society has over 700 members worldwide, with affiliate groups organizing local events and an associate group in Port Vendres, France. Its headquarters, the Category A listed Queen’s Cross Church designed by Mackintosh, serves as a tourist attraction and event venue.
The current Director will retire in February 2026, and the Trustees are seeking a successor to lead and develop the Society while overseeing the operation and care of Mackintosh Queen’s Cross. The Director will provide leadership, coordination, and motivation across all activities to implement the strategic plans and events set by the Trustees.
Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, management, advocacy, financial, fundraising, and communication skills. While an informed and enthusiastic interest in Mackintosh and his circle is desirable, the essential requirement is the ability to effectively lead a heritage-focused charity and manage its operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop the Society in alignment with strategic goals
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and preservation of Queen’s Cross Church
Provide leadership and coordination across all Society activities
Manage financial planning and fundraising initiatives
Represent the Society to stakeholders and the wider community
