Description:

Babcock International Group, through its Cavendish Nuclear division, is seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join its operations at the Sellafield site near Seascale and Egremont, Cumbria.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, calibrating, and testing Radiation Protection Instruments—ensuring their accuracy, safety, and compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.

You will play an essential part in supporting safe and efficient operations at one of the UK’s most vital nuclear sites. This role combines hands-on technical work with opportunities to contribute to team development, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repair, maintenance, calibration, and testing of radiation protection instruments.

  • Ensure all maintenance tasks comply with local procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of work activities and instrument performance.

  • Provide technical advice and progress updates to internal customers and supervisors.

  • Mentor apprentices and new team members, supporting knowledge transfer and high performance.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent training in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation disciplines.

  • Level 3 Electrical Qualification (or equivalent certification).

  • Demonstrated experience in electronic systems servicing and technical troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of conventional and nuclear safety principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to working to precise standards and procedures.


Security Clearance:

  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.

  • Eligibility may depend on nationality, residency history, and citizenship.
