Field Service Engineer

Description:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its Grid Automation Team based in Stone, Staffordshire. This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the innovation and advancement of power grid technology while delivering impactful solutions across the UK.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will travel to various customer sites nationwide to ensure high service standards and customer satisfaction. You will also participate in an on-call rota, providing emergency call-out support to existing customers. The position offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment where innovation and customer service excellence are key.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate records and reporting systems for customer issues, maintenance activities, and fixes.

• Provide technical support for both clients and internal colleagues, including answering technical queries and evaluating requirements.

• Collaborate with Sales & Tendering teams to share site-specific expertise.

• Prepare technical specifications, test documentation, and reports.

• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and accounting policies.

• Assist in managing customer spare inventories and standby systems.

• Develop method statements and risk assessments for on-site work.

• Uphold Hitachi Energy’s Electrical Safety Management System.

• Understand and manage environmental risks associated with operations.

Required Background:

• Solid field experience in relevant electrical or automation sectors.

• Familiarity with SCADA systems and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).

• Basic understanding of protection solutions for power transmission and distribution systems.

• Strong customer orientation with fluent English communication skills.

• HNC/HND qualification in Electrical Engineering.

• Working knowledge of communication networks and IEC 61850 standards.
