Monzo Bank, a fast-growing digital bank revolutionizing the financial services space in the UK, is hiring a Financial Crime Business Banking Investigator to join their expanding Financial Crime team. This full-time, remote position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in financial crime prevention, safeguarding business accounts, and protecting customers from fraud and illicit activity.

As an Investigator, you’ll work on analyzing suspicious behaviour on business accounts flagged by transaction monitoring systems. You’ll determine the appropriate actions, file reports with the National Crime Agency, and collaborate with internal teams to review applications, lock down fraud-obtained funds, and manage escalations regarding financial crime concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze unusual activity on business accounts and decide appropriate actions.

• File suspicious activity reports with the National Crime Agency.

• Review applications from new business customers for financial crime risks.

• Secure funds acquired through fraud and coordinate recovery for victims.

• Close accounts when needed and ensure funds are returned properly.

• Manage escalations and respond to financial crime concerns.

• Get trained on initial tasks with gradual upskilling across all investigation types.

Candidate Profile:

• Experience in regulated environments handling fraud, disputes, onboarding, or money laundering concerns.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to recognize suspicious patterns and behaviors.

• Comfortable with making high-impact decisions independently.

• Excellent written communication and the ability to simplify complex topics.

• Motivated to invest in self-development, with access to training and industry qualifications.

• Flexibility to support other areas of Financial Crime (e.g., AML, Screening, Law Enforcement) as needed.

Role Details:

• Start Date: Monday, 1st September 2025

• Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours/week

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

  • One weekend (Saturday & Sunday) every 5 weeks, with 2 days off in lieu
