The University of Derby is seeking a passionate and motivated FE Lecturer in Maths to join its English and Maths Department at the Buxton campus. This is a key role focused on delivering engaging and effective mathematics teaching to post-16 learners, including 16–19 study programmes, apprentices, and adult learners.

As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering Maths lessons aligned with GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications. You will be expected to support learners’ individual needs, monitor engagement and attendance, and fully uphold safeguarding responsibilities. Teaching will be delivered in the classroom, but digital literacy and confidence with tools like Microsoft Teams or Blackboard is also required to enrich the learning experience.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience teaching Maths to post-16 learners in a further education setting.

  • Confidence in delivering Functional Skills and GCSE content.

  • Strong classroom management and student support skills.

  • Ability to adapt lesson delivery for diverse learner needs.

  • Comfortable using digital teaching platforms (e.g., Teams, Blackboard).

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration.
