Description:
Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing Pre-Construction team. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing and delivering a diverse portfolio of refurbishment, remediation, heritage restoration and fire safety projects across London and the Midlands.
Working collaboratively with Commercial, Operational and Pre-Construction colleagues, you will take responsibility for the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission, ensuring accurate, competitive and commercially robust proposals.
What You Will Be Doing
- Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates and tender submissions.
- Review technical documentation including drawings, specifications and schedules.
- Produce comprehensive pricing for complex refurbishment, remediation and compliance-led projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with specialist subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Identify and assess commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Support bid strategy development, programme planning and client presentations.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure a seamless handover following project award.
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating and pre-construction function.

About You
- Proven experience in an Estimator role within a pre-construction environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical information, drawings and specifications.
- Effective negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working on refurbishment, remediation or compliance-led construction projects.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to challenging deadlines.
- Desirable
- Experience of Higher-Risk Building (HRB) projects.
- Knowledge of Building Safety Act requirements and associated legislation.
- Experience within façade remediation, fire safety or building envelope projects.
