We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Estate Gardener & General Maintenance Operative to join our team. This varied role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys the outdoors, and has a broad range of practical skills.

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the gardens and grounds of the estate to the highest standards, while also supporting the upkeep of the estate’s buildings and facilities. From nurturing plants to painting walls and exercising trained gun dogs, no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

Gardening & Grounds Maintenance

• Plant and care for trees, shrubs, and seasonal plants
• Prune and trim trees, bushes, and hedges
• Mow, trim, fertilise, and weed green spaces
• Maintain cleanliness of gardens, driveways, and outdoor areas
• Use, service, and maintain garden machinery and tools
• Manage pest control to protect plant life
• Provide recommendations to the family or Estate Director on garden care and improvements

General Maintenance Duties

• Perform light repairs: painting, decorating, minor plumbing and carpentry
• Change light bulbs, fuses, and maintain fixtures and fittings
• Assemble or move furniture and equipment as needed
• Clear gutters, empty outdoor bins, and keep estate exteriors tidy
• Identify and report major maintenance needs

• Confident operating horticultural tools and garden machinery
• Strong general repair and maintenance skills

• Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to help wherever needed
