Global Market & Financial Analyst

The Global Market & Financial Analyst will play a key role in shaping how the global recorded music industry understands growth, change and opportunity. Sitting within IFPI’s Data & Analysis team, this role offers exposure to some of the industry’s most important datasets and senior stakeholders, contributing to high-profile publications, strategic analysis and decision-ready insight used across the recorded music industry. A passion for music and the business of music is essential.

 

This is a broad analytical role combining data analysis, financial modelling, stakeholder engagement and clear communication. The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, highly professional and comfortable taking ownership of important workstreams. They will bring strong analytical judgment, excellent attention to detail and a practical, solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

 

Reporting to the Head of Global Analysis, the primary responsibilities of the Global Market & Financial Analyst include:

  • Leading the collection, analysis and delivery of key global subscriber data, including country-level trends, DSP developments and insights across the subscription streaming landscape, including outputs such as IFPI’s The Subscriber Report.
  • Managing the preparation and updating of forecast models to provide industry revenue outlooks, including inflation-adjusted analysis, FX analysis and regular reporting on currency movements, listed companies and macroeconomic context.
  • Contributing to IFPI’s core industry outputs, including the Global Music Report and analysis of other key industry datasets such as quarterly market size and market share data.
  • Assisting with the Analysis team’s collection and delivery of IFPI’s Artist Remuneration and Investing in Music reports.
  • Playing an active role in developing and maintaining IFPI’s data strategy and governance framework.
  • Supporting IFPI’s broader data strategy, including expansion into new geographies, reporting splits and datasets to create opportunities for deeper and more strategic analysis.
  • Working with IFPI’s proprietary reporting development team, MAP, to improve data capability, reporting processes and infrastructure.
  • Preparing clear, concise insights and presentations for senior audiences, including the Global Finance Committee, Main Board, leadership updates and other stakeholder briefings.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, member companies, National Groups and external stakeholders to strengthen data quality, consistency and insight.
  • Monitoring developments across music, media, technology and macroeconomics, and assessing implications for IFPI analysis.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in a quantitative or business-related discipline, such as economics, finance, accounting or statistics, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–4 years’ relevant experience in FP&A, commercial finance, data analysis, consulting, strategy, media, music or technology.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large, complex datasets.
  • Proven ability to work with datasets from multiple sources and transform analysis into clear information, insight and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent attention to detail, with sound commercial and financial judgment.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and data storytelling skills, with the ability to identify and communicate key messages effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality outputs to deadline.
  • Professional, proactive and organised, with a practical approach to solving problems.
  • Confidence working both autonomously and collaboratively across teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Passion for music and the business of music, with intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in digital platforms and global markets.

 

Differentiating Skills

  • Experience with forecasting, FX and inflation-adjusted analysis, and financial modelling.
  • SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau or other data analysis / visualisation tools.
  • Experience using Canva or similar tools to create polished visual assets, short-form presentation materials or sizzle reels to communicate data and insights in an engaging way.
  • Experience using AI tools to support analysis, automation or reporting.
  • Interest in emerging AI approaches and their application to data workflows.
  • Professional finance, accounting, data or business qualifications, such as CIMA, ACA, CFA or equivalent.
  • Foreign language skills.
